Tips
What is the best time of year to paint in Águilas?
Many people wait until spring to paint. In Águilas and along the coast, with their mild climate, you can paint almost all year round. What matters is not so much the month as choosing the right days, the right hours and the right paint. Here we explain what to look out for.

On the coast you can paint almost all year round
The climate in Águilas is mild: temperate winters and few rainy days. That means you can paint at almost any time of year, both inside and outside. The key is to bear four things in mind: heat, humidity, wind and rain.
Interiors: any time of year is fine
Indoors, the weather has much less effect. You can paint all year round, with two points to note:
- On very humid days, the paint takes longer to dry. Good ventilation helps.
- In high summer, it is best to ventilate without letting the sun and heat dry the paint too quickly.
If it is a holiday home, winter is a good time: the house is empty, the work is more comfortable and it is ready for the season.
Exteriors: watch out for sun, wind and humidity
On facades and terraces the weather really does call the shots:
- Strong heat: in the full summer sun, the paint dries too quickly and marks can be left. At that time of year we paint during the hours with least sun.
- Wind: the levante (the easterly wind on this coast) and strong winds stir up dust, which sticks to fresh paint, and speed up drying.
- Humidity and dew: the facade has to be dry. First thing in the morning there may be moisture from the dew, especially near the sea.
- Rain: freshly applied paint needs a few hours without water.
Coastal humidity and sea salt
Beside the sea, the air carries moisture and salt. That is why, before painting a facade, it has to be cleaned and left to dry properly, and exterior paints suited to that environment have to be chosen. We cover it in sea salt and facades on the coast and in how a facade is prepared before painting.
Terraces: best before the rains
If what you need is waterproofing, it is best done in dry weather and before the autumn storms. We explain it in when to waterproof your terrace.

Frequently asked questions
Can you paint in winter in Águilas?
Yes. With the mild coastal climate, painting goes on almost all year round. Indoors there is no problem, and outdoors we choose dry days without strong wind.
Is it bad to paint a facade in summer?
No, but in strong sun the paint dries too quickly. In summer we paint during the hours with least sun.
How long without rain does facade paint need?
It needs a few hours without water after it is applied. That is why the forecast is checked before painting.
When is the best time to paint a holiday home?
Out of season is a good time: the house is empty and it is ready for the summer.
